At Sungai Ara Christian Centre (SACC), our pastoral team shares a common commitment to helping people know Jesus Christ and become mature and obedient followers of Him.

Our pastors bring together theological education, professional experience and practical ministry, with complementary gifts, experiences and areas of focus. Together, they seek to serve the spiritual, personal and practical needs of people across different age groups and stages of life.

From biblical teaching and leadership development to worship, children’s development, youth discipleship and compassionate community outreach, the pastoral team works together to nurture a Christ-centred church that cares for one another and reaches out to the wider community.

We believe that Christian faith should be lived out in every aspect of life—not only through Sunday worship, but also in our families, workplaces, relationships and service to others.

Founding & Senior Pastor

Pastor Teng Huat is the Founding and Senior Pastor of Sungai Ara Christian Centre (SACC), a church planted in Penang in 1995 with the vision of helping people become mature and obedient followers of Jesus Christ.

As a bivocational pastor, he brings together extensive experience in corporate management, business and theological education.

He spent more than 23 years with Intel, serving in various management positions within the multinational semiconductor manufacturing industry. He subsequently ventured into business and is currently involved in industrial real estate through Penang Industrial, focusing on factories, warehouses and industrial land in Penang and Kedah.

Alongside his professional career, Pastor Teng Huat pursued theological education, earning a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) in Pastoral Leadership from Malaysia Baptist Theological Seminary.

This combination of corporate management experience, business involvement and theological training has shaped his approach to pastoral ministry. He seeks to integrate sound biblical teaching with practical insights from leadership, organisational development, strategic planning and everyday working life.

He is particularly passionate about systematic Bible teaching, helping believers understand and apply Scripture in their daily lives, and equipping Christians to live out their faith in the workplace, family and wider community.

His interest in church leadership and discipleship is also reflected in his writings, including Strategic Planning for Church Revitalization and Growth and CALEB: God’s Faithful and Fearless Fighter.

As Senior Pastor, he provides overall spiritual leadership and direction for SACC, with an emphasis on biblical faithfulness, intentional discipleship, leadership development and equipping believers for Christian service.

His desire is to see SACC grow as a Christ-centred, Bible-grounded community where faith is not confined to Sunday worship but is lived out meaningfully in every aspect of life.

Co-Founding Pastor

Pastor Monita is the Co-Founding Pastor of Sungai Ara Christian Centre (SACC), having been involved in planting and developing the church since its establishment in 1995.

She holds a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies from Malaysia Baptist Theological Seminary, complementing her years of practical pastoral ministry and leadership experience.

Pastor Monita has a particular passion for worship ministry, holistic child development and compassionate community outreach.

In worship ministry, she is committed to nurturing and developing worship leaders and worship team members. Her emphasis extends beyond musical and technical skills to developing spiritual maturity, a biblical understanding of worship and a heart for leading the congregation in meaningful, participatory worship.

In children’s ministry, Pastor Monita advocates holistic child development, recognising the importance of nurturing children spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically. Through children’s programmes and activities, she seeks to create opportunities for children to discover their potential, develop positive values and grow in a caring and supportive environment.

She also has a heart for marginalised and disadvantaged members of the community, particularly single mothers, the elderly and families facing difficult circumstances. Her desire is to demonstrate Christ’s love through practical assistance, encouragement and meaningful relationships.

As Co-Founding Pastor, she continues to contribute to SACC’s spiritual life and development, seeking to nurture a church community characterised by genuine worship, compassionate care and practical expressions of Christian faith.

Pastor

Pastor Jeremiah has served at Sungai Ara Christian Centre (SACC) since January 2017, with a particular focus on youth, young adults, discipleship and community outreach.

He holds a Bachelor of Theology from Malaysia Baptist Theological Seminary, which provides a foundation for his biblical teaching, discipleship and pastoral ministry.

Beyond his responsibilities at SACC, Pastor Jeremiah is also a certified football coach and Technical Director at Akademi Bola Sepak Wira Muda, one of Penang’s leading football academies. Through football coaching and youth development, he has opportunities to mentor young people, cultivate character, encourage teamwork and discipline, and contribute to their personal development.

More recently, he has begun working with Jabil, a multinational manufacturing company, expanding his professional experience in the marketplace. This also provides opportunities to broaden his understanding of working life and integrate practical workplace experience with his Christian faith and ministry.

As a pastor with experience in church ministry, sports development and the corporate workplace, Jeremiah brings a distinctive perspective to working with young people and young adults. He seeks to help them develop a strong biblical foundation while equipping them to navigate the challenges and opportunities of education, work, relationships and everyday life.

Working alongside the pastoral team, Pastor Jeremiah is committed to helping the next generation become mature followers of Jesus Christ who live out their faith meaningfully in the church and wider community.
